Today, Nov 1, 2009, Frank Salazar & Robert Arellano will be at the Tejano Academy fund raiser at Mission County Park in San Antonio, TX to present Augustine Ramirez & Joe Bravo their trophies for the “Lifetime Achievement” award for which they were recognized for this past July at the Tejano Music Awards. Please come join us in supporting the Tejano Academy.

Looking foward to the big show 2010 it is hard to belive 30 yrs has gone by the TTMA Board needs to make the Awards show a night to remember. The show needs to take us back 30 yrs show us where we started from and the people who worked hard night after night. And for all the musicians who put sweat on the ballroom floors so people could have a good time and enjoy the music. And let’s also remember the the people who are no longer with us but there MUSIC lives on for us to enjoy. TTMA do not rush just to try to put a show together take your time gather info from fans who love TEJANO MUSIC so that the 30th ANNUAL TEJANO MUSIC AWARDS is a SHOW to remember and that people can see TEJANO MUSIC lives and it will never die.

What improvement do you think the TTMA Board needs to do to improve FAN FAIR?
Points for improvement should be:
1. More Restrooms
2. Updated performance schedules, posted daily throught the Market Square.
3. New stages…the stages are tooooo small and its the same ones for the last 15 years!
4. Put a stage under the overpass, like Fiesta does..it will cut down the over flow crowds near Mi Tierra.Express your thoughts and i will pass them on to the TTMA Board.
Make a deal with the University to allow parking in their lots that are usually empty during Fan Fair. These lots, under the over pass, were once used to park during fan fair, but were sold to the University. The University can charge for the parking and make money, and this would also provide a lot more parking for those attending. I believe that these lots are opened for Fiesta, why not Fan Fair?

Right after the last Fan Fair we sent out a Fan Fair survey. The response was great and we received some good input. Yes the number one complaint for improvement was MORE RESTROOMS!!.
So this is a no brainier, we will double up on the restrooms for 2010.Performance schedules are probably the hardest thing to do. Bands change their schedules at the last minute and when the schedules are changed, that is just something out of our control. It becomes impossible to update everyone and ever stage as it happens. We do try to keep the schedule as advertised, but something always happens.
The City of San Antonio will not let us place stages any larger than we already have for safety reasons. There needs to be space on the street for emergency vehicles to use if necessary. So larger stages are not possible.
To have a stage under the expressway requires permission from the Texas Department of Transportation. We have applied in the past to use that area but the DOT only grants permission to a few organizations per year such as Fiesta and a few others. We can try to ask for that area again, maybe we can get lucky this time.
On the University parking, that is a good suggestion and we will ask the University of Texas if they would be interested in doing this because they own the property.
